about Me

2006 - Earned my Masters in Instructional Technology from Ashland University.

1995 - Graduated from MVNU (MVNC at the time) with a B.S. in Mathematics

I have been teacher since 1995 when I started as a part-time math teacher for Northwestern High School in Wayne County.  The following year, I got a full time position teaching junior high math at East Knox.  While teaching at East Knox I started a cross country program and coached track.

In 2001 I as given an opportunity to come to Mount Vernon City Schools as a computer resource teacher at the middle school.  I was also a building and district technology leader while at the middle school.  Unfortunately, the stock market crash of 2008 and ensuing recession forced the school district to start looking for ways to cut spending.  My position at the middle school was phased out over two years and in 2010 I was moved to the high school full time as a math teacher.   In 2011, I was able to move into the Business Department teacher computer apps and programming.

At this time,  I am focused primarily on teaching computer science courses and am no longer teaching computer apps.  I teach coding basics, computer science essentials and game development using Unity and C#.

My wife Stacey, and I have four kids.  When I am not busy with teaching and with my kids activities, I enjoy spending as much time as possible outside.  I enjoy hiking, gardening and relaxing in my hammock in the woods.
